Well we made it..still in shock!! let the house hunting commence- but not on the Sabbath!!

BOO :0)

Well what can I say? I know...what a bloody mad week!!! We left the old house very, very stressed and tense...and arrived in Horwich, lancashire to stay with my dad on tues/wednesday..It was a fab couple of days..though a bit overwhelming saying goodbye to so many people we love...maybe goodbye sounds like a strong word but I don't know when we will see anyone from England again at this moment in time...we have such a lot ahead of us with finding & buying a home and building my business up!! but we will get back to visit England in 2012......I have cried out so many tears this week i'm Exhausted!!!

The next leg in our Journey took us to Callendar (Scotland) where we spent thurs/friday evening at hubby's mums..before leaving for Ullapool at 4am on the Saturday!

As predicted we arrived in Ullapool 2  hours early...but got on the ferry first and got off first too....it was rather stressful trying to entertain 5 kids and 3 chinchillas in the crammed full car for two hours at ullapool ferry port though...we were all very glad when the ferry pulled in and we could escape the confinement of the car...bye,bye motorways & dual carriageways cant say as I will miss you!!

Took our travel sick pills...wimps I know..but if you had the crossing we had the first time we crossed over to Lewis you would agree! Horrendous was not the word!! However the sun was shining and I braved going outside to take some pics leaving the mainland!! The crossing was fab...the kids where playing with some other children from Lewis and we sat talking about our new adventure...myself in a state of shock that we have actually done it!!!!

We pulled into Lewis to sunshine...drove back to the holiday cottage we stayed in In oct/november which is strange...we are starting our adventure back in the house we first expierienced Lewis in!! 3 months ago i was sat in this same chair trying to work out how we would get back here if we couldn't sell our house...but as luck had it our house sold within 3 days of us getting back in England!! So this whole journey feels a bit like fate!!!

Tommorow is when the fun really starts..we have house viewings in Leverborough, Garrabost, Point, Ness, Stornoway, North Tolsta, Ballalan..but to name a few...the difference being that we now have the cash in the bank...we are very privileged to be in the position we are in now..no mortgage and buying a new forever home...but with the privilege comes sacrifices...no huge supermarket, no multi-storey shopping centres, no theme-parks...but what we gain is immense...peace,quiet, tranquillity..on what we feel is one of the most beautiful places on earth..yes we may need wellies and thermals...but i challenge you to spend a week up here at this pace of life and not fall in love...I think reality will hit me tommorow when we start looking at houses...this is forever..we will never get this chance again..so for now we are going to grasp the opportunity to go forward and embrace this amazing way of life!!

I will leave you today with a giggle...a lesson given to the kids which went wrong!! ...well as its sunday we have been trying to explain Sabbath to the kids, and how we all have to be respectful of the other people living up here and there beliefs..which resulted somehow in Kaitlyn crawling past the windows so 'to quote Kaitlyns word' - the Sabbath wouldn't catch us!!! hehehehehehe...:0)

Off now to unwind after a week which has felt like an eternity and to know that we have made it here...let our forever begin!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

p.s our door is always open (once we own our own that is!!!)...we can't guarantee you will want to leave though!! ;0)

p.p.s our last stop on the mainland is the piccy..ullapool port...

p.p.p.s I really am gonna sod off now! lol

  1. Glad you've made it in one piece!

Pop in and say hello when you're in Garrabost (if you've got time) - 13a is left at the post office (up the hill) 300 yards on the right hand side.

Out on Monday and Wednesday mornings learning Gaelic but should be in otherwise.

(Bet you're glad you came across yesterday and not today given the wind today!)

  4. Turned green with envy on reading your first blog posts, Linzi. Here's to me and my clan doing the very same and waving "ta-ra" to England's shores forever and "hello" to Lewis! :-)
